Yesterday was a veritable whirlwind of intellectual and aesthetic stimulation. I woke up, finished the New Yorker article on Velasquez, and read a bit of The Poisonwood Bible while Josh went running. While getting coffee in the morning, J. and I read the first of the 3 Foreign Affairs articles we'd read together that day. We went to the LoC, got our reader cards, and poked around the Jefferson bldg to look at the main reading room. Then it was on to the Hirshhorn, which was wonderful to wander together. More Foreign Affairs over lunch, then the Museum of American History, more reading over coffee, then watching the Artist, which we both found an absolute delight. I think this might actually have been the most culturally jam-packed day of my life, and I feel very lucky to have J. to spend such days with.

Thanks, MasterGote! I don't know about this icy heart business, but if it were true, I'm sure it melted into the most glorious puddle :).
